I Love Iowa ...

and I’ll tell you why. The people here are so very nice. The folks I demonstrated for today were all so nice and I had a good time there. After the demonstration I stopped at the Cedar River Harley Davidson Shop. It looks like a horse ranch. The woman behind the counter was very nice to talk to, and told me about the shop and I commented that their shop was one of the most unique ones I had been in. “It looks like a ranch”, I said.

She told me that they actually own a ranch down the road called the Harley Davidson ranch. I though that was pretty cool. On my drive back to Des Moines I noticed that the rest area’s had wireless internet access. That’s a good idea, especially for business people who may need to send a document back to work or something. I stopped at a McDonalds for lunch and went to use the credit card machine but the machine didn’t work. The woman asked if I had a check, I said no and that all I had were the credit cards. She said she would just promo it and gave me my lunch for free. How sweet is that!

The ride from Charles City (America’s Hometown) to Des Moines was over 150 miles and as I finally got to Rt. 80 I spotted the grand-daddy of Harley Davidson shops, Zooks! The place is enormous and it looks like a giant barn. I picked up a custom shop pin from them and they also gave me one of their pens. See, the folks here are very nice. Zooks had one of the best layouts of a Harley Davidson shops I have ever seen. The showroom was so clean and there were about 50 bikes. They have a great custom pin too. Outside there is the barn motif complete with a silo. And on the ground there is some brickwork with the name Zooks spelled out in grey bricks. I, of course, took a couple of pictures.

So this trip was very good for my pin collection. I got to visit three great shops, Mason City Harley Davidson of Mason City Iowa, Cedar River Harley Davidson of Charles City, Iowa and Zooks Harley Davidson of Des Moines, Iowa. And that was all without consulting the Harley Davidson dealer locator. Which I just did to get the websites, and I see that there were about two or three more shops I could have hit today on the ride to Des Moines.

I also took pictures of my three new pins. They have been added to my Harley Davidson Custom Shop Pin gallery on Buzznet.

Also Mo sent me a link to a Harry Potter quiz that might be slightly easier than the trivia game. Harry Potter Quiz. I got only 2 wrong. The same ones as Mo #’s 3 & 9.

Sorting Transformers ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02424 Yesterday I drove Andy to school. Today I walked over with them. I did so not because I didn't think Andy would be safe on their own. Andy has been walking home from school for well over a year so walking to school is the same thing just in reverse. I wanted to see how long it actually took for the walk to go. I of course, over estimated how early we had to head over. The walk itself only takes a brisk 15 minutes. And that is at a modified teenager's shuffle. So Andy can leave the house around 6:25-6:30 and still get there by 6:45 when the doors open to the High School. Good to know. During the day I started one of the projects I've been meaning to start and have been putting off. I'm sorting through my Transformers and getting them ready to sell. I have talked with the guys at Double Midnight Comics about selling them my collection. Not the stuff I have on display and also I am picking out some figures that I want to keep as part of the collectio...

Time with Lexi ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02401 Today We watched my sister's dog, Lexi. My sister and her husband were coming back up here from their home and they had boarded the dog. They weren't sure if they'd be there in time to pick her up so we did that for them. We had Lexi for a couple of hours before they arrived and we had dinner together. Lexi was pretty chill for the most part until Torrun came in to the living room to investigate. At first they just looked at each other. Andy grabbed for LEXI's leash and then Lexi tried to go after Torrun. Torrun ended up bolting for the upstairs and we did not see her for hours. James knew enough not to even come down.

Time For Another Change ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02402 Andy decided to clean their room today. In so doing they decided that they no longer wish to hang on to their LEGO sets. So, I now have them all and I spent the afternoon disassembling many sets to fit into the one bucket. There were many Minecraft sets in there. What I'm going to do eventually is take what is in the bucket and separate it down to the individual sets that I still have instructions books for. The organizing of that is going to be daunting. I will try and figure out an efficient way to separate everything but I'm sure that will take some time. Andy also decided that they no longer want the piggy bank that was mine. That I am putting into a box for Andy for when they get older and maybe have kids of their own.
