One year of Photo-A-Day ...

It has been one entire year of Photo-A-Day and today I will begin another. Yes, I am doing another full year of photos. Something that I realized while doing this project is that I enjoy having a photo each day from where I was around the country. Sometimes the images weren't very interesting or artistic. Some were just plain weird. But each one invokes a memory from the day I took the photo and that has been something important to me. I would like to thank Christopher Williams for his Photo-A-Day project that inspired me to do my own project.

During this project I impressed certain rules upon myself. The image had to be taken that day. I broke this once for an important reason.
  • The image had to be posted on the day it was taken.
  • I had to take the image.

During this next year I will try to adhere to these rules as well as I can but I may allow myself to be in more images so if someone else takes the image I may post that, I haven't decided if I will do that or not. I do have a tripod and the ability to set the timer on the camera so that may be the way I get into pictures.

I have met some great people online who also do Photo-A-Day.
  • Christopher Williams
  • Kym Rohman
  • Amy Sue VanDerWerf
  • Lisa Spodak The best Photo-A-Day Layout ever. And she is fundraising for a great cause.
  • Annie Mentzer
  • Gabrielle Krupnick
  • My friend Becky - She has a great eye.
  • Jamie
  • Kevin Michael
  • David

And then there were some people who helped me during Guest Photo-A-Day week while Allison and I were on our honeymoon.

  • Day One - Christopher Williams
  • Day Two - Lisa Spodak
  • Day Three – Andy – AKA andycamp
  • Day Four – Kym Rohman
  • Day Five - Matt - My cousin an artist and drummer.
  • Day Six - Mo - Of We're In a fight
  • Day Seven - Wes Molebash - Of You'll Have That
  • Day Eight – Gabrielle
  • Day Nine – Kostika

These folks were great to help me out when I had no way of posting in Aruba. I posted my images when I returned just so I could complete a full year, I figured it would be cheating if I had skipped nine whole days. Cheating in my own self imposed rules.

I haven't quite figured out what to do with all of these images. I kept a copy of each for the whole year and when 2006 rolled around I kept a copy of the original file as well. The images are all 450px X 350px at 96dpi. This doesn't translate well to printing the pictures. So I started keeping the originals as well so that If I ever wanted to do something with the images I could do so.

Are you ready to take the Photo-A-Day challenge? If so please let me know where your images will reside and I will link to you. Here's to another year of photos.

Sorting Transformers ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02424 Yesterday I drove Andy to school. Today I walked over with them. I did so not because I didn't think Andy would be safe on their own. Andy has been walking home from school for well over a year so walking to school is the same thing just in reverse. I wanted to see how long it actually took for the walk to go. I of course, over estimated how early we had to head over. The walk itself only takes a brisk 15 minutes. And that is at a modified teenager's shuffle. So Andy can leave the house around 6:25-6:30 and still get there by 6:45 when the doors open to the High School. Good to know. During the day I started one of the projects I've been meaning to start and have been putting off. I'm sorting through my Transformers and getting them ready to sell. I have talked with the guys at Double Midnight Comics about selling them my collection. Not the stuff I have on display and also I am picking out some figures that I want to keep as part of the collectio...

Time with Lexi ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02401 Today We watched my sister's dog, Lexi. My sister and her husband were coming back up here from their home and they had boarded the dog. They weren't sure if they'd be there in time to pick her up so we did that for them. We had Lexi for a couple of hours before they arrived and we had dinner together. Lexi was pretty chill for the most part until Torrun came in to the living room to investigate. At first they just looked at each other. Andy grabbed for LEXI's leash and then Lexi tried to go after Torrun. Torrun ended up bolting for the upstairs and we did not see her for hours. James knew enough not to even come down.

Time For Another Change ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02402 Andy decided to clean their room today. In so doing they decided that they no longer wish to hang on to their LEGO sets. So, I now have them all and I spent the afternoon disassembling many sets to fit into the one bucket. There were many Minecraft sets in there. What I'm going to do eventually is take what is in the bucket and separate it down to the individual sets that I still have instructions books for. The organizing of that is going to be daunting. I will try and figure out an efficient way to separate everything but I'm sure that will take some time. Andy also decided that they no longer want the piggy bank that was mine. That I am putting into a box for Andy for when they get older and maybe have kids of their own.
