Andy’s Rock Climbing Birthday Party ...

Andy’s Rock Climbing Birthday Party

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #01419

Today we celebrated Andy’s birthday at Rock Spot Climbing in Lincoln, RI. He had 6 of his friends plus Eva and his cousins Dylan and Kylie. All the kids did a great job climbing and Andy got to show off his skills. He looks so comfortable climbing around. He also does this super cool way of coming back down on the auto belay system. Just kicking off and practically floating to the ground. So effortless.

Kylie Climbing

Kylie took to climbing really quickly. She ventured the highest out of she Eva and Dylan. Although she did not climb highest on this particular track. She was one of the first kids to step up and try climbing at the party.

Dylan Climbing

Dylan took a little more time to warm up to the climb. He did a great job but seemed more hesitant about going high on each climb.

Eva climbing

Eva discovered that heights aren’t really her thing. She got more comfortable toward the end of the session. She said that each time she was to come back down she felt like the auto belay was not gonna catch for like a second or so and that did not serve to calm her nerves at all. She eventually got comfortable with the whole thing and was climbing really well.

Andy climbing

After about an hour of climbing using the auto belay system the kids had the opportunity to try bouldering. Andy had a goal of topping out 10 times and he ended up doing it 11 times. He’s going to sleep well tonight.

Dylan Climbing

the kids also got to try the tracks where the instructors would belay them. Doing this they got a chance to just hang out in the air when they got tired.

Andy climbing

Andy got to show off more of his skills when he did the tracks where the instructor was belaying the kids. He climbed all over everything and did so well. He and his friend Bella raced up a track at one time to see who was faster. Bella is also a climber so she had some really good skills of her own.

andys party

Allison did a really nice job on Andy’s cake. He wanted a rock with lots of rock climbing holds all over it and he wanted the cake’s name to be Dwayne. That was for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Everyone got a kick out of it.

ABD Turkey Baskets

This morning was the America’s Best Defense Thanksgiving turkey basket assembly. Andy helped out with this as well. We went through the line and made 3 baskets each. There were many people there helping. It is one of my favorite events at the school.

Sorting Transformers ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02424 Yesterday I drove Andy to school. Today I walked over with them. I did so not because I didn't think Andy would be safe on their own. Andy has been walking home from school for well over a year so walking to school is the same thing just in reverse. I wanted to see how long it actually took for the walk to go. I of course, over estimated how early we had to head over. The walk itself only takes a brisk 15 minutes. And that is at a modified teenager's shuffle. So Andy can leave the house around 6:25-6:30 and still get there by 6:45 when the doors open to the High School. Good to know. During the day I started one of the projects I've been meaning to start and have been putting off. I'm sorting through my Transformers and getting them ready to sell. I have talked with the guys at Double Midnight Comics about selling them my collection. Not the stuff I have on display and also I am picking out some figures that I want to keep as part of the collectio...

Time with Lexi ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02401 Today We watched my sister's dog, Lexi. My sister and her husband were coming back up here from their home and they had boarded the dog. They weren't sure if they'd be there in time to pick her up so we did that for them. We had Lexi for a couple of hours before they arrived and we had dinner together. Lexi was pretty chill for the most part until Torrun came in to the living room to investigate. At first they just looked at each other. Andy grabbed for LEXI's leash and then Lexi tried to go after Torrun. Torrun ended up bolting for the upstairs and we did not see her for hours. James knew enough not to even come down.

Time For Another Change ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02402 Andy decided to clean their room today. In so doing they decided that they no longer wish to hang on to their LEGO sets. So, I now have them all and I spent the afternoon disassembling many sets to fit into the one bucket. There were many Minecraft sets in there. What I'm going to do eventually is take what is in the bucket and separate it down to the individual sets that I still have instructions books for. The organizing of that is going to be daunting. I will try and figure out an efficient way to separate everything but I'm sure that will take some time. Andy also decided that they no longer want the piggy bank that was mine. That I am putting into a box for Andy for when they get older and maybe have kids of their own.
