Review: Twinkly Squares – Programmable LED Wall Panels ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #01400

I was given a free Twinkly Squares starter Kit to review. Opinions are my own.

My walls are covered with all sorts of fun toys and other things. I now have an amazing set of programmable LED Wall Panels from Twinkly that I’ve added to the décor of the office. These panels are programable, work with Google, Alexa and Apple and can be customized down to the individual LED. Each Twinkly Square has 64 LEDs on it in an 8×8 grid. You can combine any number of these squares together in all different shapes to create the look and feel that you want in your own home. I personally want to get the 3 Square expansion pack so that I would have a perfect 3X3 square of 9 individual Twinkly Squares. I think this would be the perfect size and addition to my office. For now the 2X3 setup I have is cool and fun. But I can make it better. I made a review of this fun product for my YouTube Channel.

Here are more details on the Twinkly Squares from their press release:

“Leading Italian smart lighting brand, Twinkly, once again raises the bar on smart lighting solutions with the introduction of their newest product, Squares. An interactive mosaic made of dazzling “mega” pixels, Twinkly Squares flawlessly marries technology and innovation with the sleek and elegance of interior design.

The first of its kind, Twinkly Squares’ smart LED wall panels each feature 64 premium app-controlled, addressable LEDs specifically designed for brightness and color quality in 16 million colors and can be combined with up to 15 extension panels – bringing unlimited creative potential for any space within the home, all in the palm of your hand. Whether it’s creating stunning 8-bit pixel artwork and GIFs, widgets including weather forecasts or clocks, or just colors and animations – the opportunities to create huge displays of beautiful artwork are endless.

Easily configurable via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, Twinkly Squares can be controlled using the free Twinkly app, available for iOS and Android, and voice-controlled with voice assistants including Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple HomeKit. Once the lights have been set up, the Twinkly app scans and maps each individual LED, allowing everyone to generate bespoke light design installations through a wide range of preset effects and animations, as well as the ability to create custom effects from scratch using the FX Wizard tool.

To take home decoration to the next level, Twinkly Squares can also be combined with lights in the home via Twinkly Music (sold separately), a USB device with a built-in microphone that interprets ambient sounds and music in the home and applies matching colors and effects to the lights. Twinkly Squares is currently available to buy as a Starter Kit or Extension Kit:

Twinkly Squares Starter Kit ($249.99) – Includes 1 x master panel and 5 x extension panels, as well as a USB-C cable and power adapter

Twinkly Squares Extension Kit ($99.99) – Includes 3 x extension panels and mounting accessories (requires connection to a master panel, which comes the Starter Kit)”

Sorting Transformers ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02424 Yesterday I drove Andy to school. Today I walked over with them. I did so not because I didn't think Andy would be safe on their own. Andy has been walking home from school for well over a year so walking to school is the same thing just in reverse. I wanted to see how long it actually took for the walk to go. I of course, over estimated how early we had to head over. The walk itself only takes a brisk 15 minutes. And that is at a modified teenager's shuffle. So Andy can leave the house around 6:25-6:30 and still get there by 6:45 when the doors open to the High School. Good to know. During the day I started one of the projects I've been meaning to start and have been putting off. I'm sorting through my Transformers and getting them ready to sell. I have talked with the guys at Double Midnight Comics about selling them my collection. Not the stuff I have on display and also I am picking out some figures that I want to keep as part of the collectio...

Time with Lexi ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02401 Today We watched my sister's dog, Lexi. My sister and her husband were coming back up here from their home and they had boarded the dog. They weren't sure if they'd be there in time to pick her up so we did that for them. We had Lexi for a couple of hours before they arrived and we had dinner together. Lexi was pretty chill for the most part until Torrun came in to the living room to investigate. At first they just looked at each other. Andy grabbed for LEXI's leash and then Lexi tried to go after Torrun. Torrun ended up bolting for the upstairs and we did not see her for hours. James knew enough not to even come down.

Time For Another Change ...

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #02402 Andy decided to clean their room today. In so doing they decided that they no longer wish to hang on to their LEGO sets. So, I now have them all and I spent the afternoon disassembling many sets to fit into the one bucket. There were many Minecraft sets in there. What I'm going to do eventually is take what is in the bucket and separate it down to the individual sets that I still have instructions books for. The organizing of that is going to be daunting. I will try and figure out an efficient way to separate everything but I'm sure that will take some time. Andy also decided that they no longer want the piggy bank that was mine. That I am putting into a box for Andy for when they get older and maybe have kids of their own.
